NFC Dominates NSC Cup - 6/1/2025

Blaine, MN- Nebraska Futbol Club sent eight teams to compete in the NSC Cup over Memorial Day weekend. NFC had tremendous success with two titles, two runners up, and a quarter-finalist. The Under 14 Catenaccio Blue boys lifted the NSC Cup as champions by ending the weekend 6-0 and outscoring their opponents 28-3. Matt Hudson came up with three shutouts in the weekend. The Under 15 Renegade girls placed second to the Manitoba Gold. They ended the weekend 3-2 and Ashley Eggbert had 2 shutouts. The Under 15 Invictus boys ended the weekend with 2 ties and a loss. They tied the eventual champions Palatine Celtic 1-1 in group play. The Under 16 Viva Adelente girls also ended the weekend with 2 ties and a loss. The Under 19 En Fuego boys lifted the NSC Cup as champions by ending the weekend 6-0. Creighton goalkeeper Matt Allen did not give up a single goal in the entire tournament. NFC also sent 3 men’s teams to the tournament. One of the teams finished in second place to UFC Deportivo from Ohio.  The teams ended the weekend 8-4 and outscored their opponents 40-17. Fast Track 30 players, Issac Inungaray, Mathew Kalahar, Michael Reestman, and James Unger, also made their debut with the NFC Amateurs.  Kalahar and Reestman made it to quarterfinals and Reestman had a goal and an assist. Inungaray and Unger played in the final and both saw substantial playing time as midfielders. Other local clubs competing in the tournament were; Gladiator, Dakota Gold, West Des Moines, and Sparta Lincoln.
