Elkhorn NE- On April 21st when the Omaha World Herald’s soccer rankings were published Elkhorn had something to celebrate. Both boys and girls were undefeated, both were ranked #1 in class B, and the girls were #1 in all classes. After being ranked #2 all season Elkhorn’s girls have taken over the top spot right before entering districts. Nebraska Futbol Club has 4 players on the top ranked squad. Taylor Arehart, Abby Bull, Amy Wofford, and Alicia Brown are all sophomores and members of NFC Adelante. Elkhorn coach Judy Breed said that, “they share one significant quality and that is hustle and competitive fire.”
Breed had this to say about the ladies,
“Taylor Arehart is my starting left full-back. She's quick, smart and steps to the ball so well. She is particularly skilled at volleying balls out of danger. Abby Bull subs on our front line and has 4 goals and 2 assists so far this year. She has a nose for the goal and an excellent crossing ball and corner kick. Amy Wofford subs in our midfield. She makes nice overlapping runs with excellent crosses as well as retreating quickly to play defense.Alicia Brown subs as a utility player. She has played defense, mid and forward this year. She's quick and tough and sees the field so well. She's always playing with her head up looking for a good outlet pass.”
